Long time no write, hey?
I know I’m a sucker for the lapse in discipline that comes a few weeks after New Years. That’s why this blog has been stop-start since the very beginning, after all! But I’m at that point in my life where I’m learning not to just fight my flaws, but to adapt to them. So these next few weeks will be me binge-writing and researching as best I can, with the hope that I can make this into a solid habit.
To be honest, the past year or so was pretty goddamned awful, but it was one of those years that’s left me stronger. It’s also left me with this one solid certainty in my mind: I’m going to make this next year something decent, God help me. It’s going to be good. It’s going to be fulfilling. It’s going to feel worthwhile.
So I have to make a list, right? How can I stay on the right track if there’s no track thought out beforehand?
- Learn to drive.
- Reach goal weight.
- Get my dream job.
- Get published.
- Read 100 books.
- Start Youtube channel
- Have an ebay shop bringing in £500 a month
- Have an etsy shop
- Reach 1000 followers on here
- Reach 1000 followers on Youtube
I want to learn to drive. I have done for years. But I often find that when I’m most financially able to afford all the lessons and tests, the rest of my life has big distractions going on. Family stress, big exams, job stress… But after the past year I’ve discovered the key to managing my stress and sorting my priorities, and I’m going to use it.
Reach goal weight – I mean, that’s a given for anyone at New Years. My goal is 55kg, and I know that I’m not near it, but I know I’m going to be.
Get my dream job – my dream job would be somewhere that lets me use my obsession for international relations and languages. I’d love to pick up another language too, and perhaps another qualification, but my main priority here is to have a stable, solid career in something that feels worthwhile.
Get published – I want to get a book translation published by the end of the year, and preferably one of my own books. I’m not sure how likely this is, based on what I’ve heard about the publishing process, but I’m going to really try for it.
Read 100 books – if I read before bed, hopefully I’ll sleep better and reach this goal. Hopefully.
Start a Youtube channel – ideally, I’m wanting to expand my blog again and have the Youtube channel working in conjunction with it. I want to go into deeper detail on international relations and the news, across multiple platforms.
Have an ebay shop bringing in £500 – I’m not on the highest income, and everything is getting more and more expensive. An extra £500 a month would do a world of good, and I’ve got a lot of things I can sell from my childhood.
Start an etsy shop – it’ll encourage me to be more creative again, just like when I was a child, and it’ll hopefully bring in some extra income!
Reach 1000 followers on here and Youtube – it’ll feel like a semblance of success, even if it’s a fairly small milestone compared to some.
I’d love to hear other people’s goals for the year!
